Golden hour has a unique charm that I absolutely love. The soft, warm light makes everything look like magic, perfect for preserving those cherished moments we all love so much. One evening in March, I had the pleasure of photographing my cousin Katie and her family at a local farm, Looking Glass Creamery in Green Creek, NC, close to Tryon. Behind Looking Glass, there is breathtaking mountain scenery.
The session was filled with laughter, showcasing the love that fills this family. Katie and Paul have been together since their high school days, creating a warmth that draws people in. They've always had a mature love, even back then. Paul, not just Katie’s husband, feels more like a cousin to me. It’s nice to witness how they flow seamlessly together.
A Little Mountain Paradise loved by this Western NC Family Photographer
Upon arrival at the farm, I am always awestruck by the stunning views - they are absolutely gorgeous. And given Looking Glass' location (in the middle of nowhere Polk County), they impressively have a booming business. Looking Glass has spectacular homemade ice cream, sandwiches, and cider on tap with amazing staff! Their place is definitely worth a visit, or several. Green fields framed by towering mountains create a dreamy setting. The golden light over the mountains sets the stage for a photography session of any kind.
A Surprise Visitor
Just as we hit our stride, an adorable farm dog ran up to us to join our session. With a wagging tail and playful spirit, he fit right in. You can always tell who the dog lovers are, and this fam is one of them!
Family Photography Session that Speak Volumes

Being a Polk County resident makes my job pretty easy as a Western, NC family photographer. Golden hour, with its warm tones, adds a different kind of quality to photos, making them feel warm and vibrant. Katie and family, thanks again, I am so glad you gave me the chance to photograph your family at Looking Glass!
